Ensaimada is a traditional product of Mallorcan bakery; it is very old and popular in the island.|
- 1 kg of flour
- 200 g of lard
- 5 eggs
- 1 glass of milk
- 40g of yeast
- A pitch of salt
- Icing sugar
Dissolve the yeast in warm milk, add the eggs and salt. Shape a volcano with the flour and add in the middle the mixed ingredients before mentioned. Knead the mix and do a ball with the obtained dough. Finally wrap it.
When the dough doubles its size, extend it into an even surface and cover it with lard making portions to fold simulating the traditional form of the Ensaimada. Let them rest until it doubles it size again.
Once they’ve grown enough, bake them and serve covering them with icing sugar.
